Total Waterproofing Solution

UltraTech Seal & Dry is cement based, single component, polymer modified, flexible, elastomeric, waterproof coating for concrete and masonry surfaces. Available as a dry powder, it is to be mixed with water before use. It is grey in color and easily applied by brush or sprayed by spray machines.

Benefits:

Being a single component, it does not require mixing of components at site, thus ensuring accuracy and proper quality. Only water is to be added before use and mixing can be done with a stirrer, resulting in considerable saving of time and labor.

Normally no curing is required after application. However, if the application is subjected to direct sunlight in summer, it is advisable to cover the surface and sprinkle water above it, one hour after application.

Surface Preparation:

UltraTech Seal & Dry is typically applied in two coats. It is important that the following application practices are adhered to for best results:

Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure that all loosely adhered material is removed. Wash the surface with clean potable water so that no dust remains on the surface. Care should be taken to see that there is no water pooling and that all excess water is removed before application.
There should not be any oil, grease, fungus etc. on the surface before application since it may hinder the adhesion of the product to the surface. Allow the surface to dry properly prior to application of the product.

Mixing:

It is very important that UltraTech Seal & Dry is mixed with water, properly and thoroughly before use. It is advisable to use a mechanical stirrer, for uniform and thoroughly mixing and to save time and labor.
Take a clean vessel / bucket which does not have any hole or cut in it. Add some water in the empty vessel to ensure that no powder gets stuck on the bottom of the vessel. Put the required quantity of UltraTech Seal & Dry in it.
Mixing ratio Mixing water should be 30 - 35% of the weight of the powder.
Mix both thoroughly to get a uniform paste. Ensure that no powder is left unmixed at the bottom of the vessel. The slurry is now ready for application.
It is desirable to use the material within 2 hours.
For bigger jobs, it is advisable to use a mechanical stirrer and spray machines. Proper care should be taken at the time of mixing and spraying to ensure a better result.

Application Procedure:

UltraTech Seal & Dry can be applied to the surface manually by brush. After application of 1^st coat, allow a minimum gap of 2 hrs before the subsequent coat. The second coat must be applied perpendicular to the first coat.

UltraTech Seal & Dry can also be applied by spray machine. For large areas, the use of a spray machine is recommended for better speed and economy.

Care should be taken to avoid application under direct sunlight. The appropriate application time for the product is either early morning or late evening. This is to ensure that the water which is used for mixing does not evaporate fast and the product is able to develop the design properties. In case of underground water tanks, overhead tanks or basement, it is quite possible that drying time may increase to more than 2 hours. In such cases, ensure that first coat is dried properly before the second coat is applied. It is advised to use a brush with soft bristles. After the application the brush should be cleaned properly.

Precautions:

Proper slopes and outlets to drain out rain water are essential.
Mix just enough quantity for use within 2 hours so as to avoid wastage of the product.
Additional water should not be added to already mix material.
In order to get best results, it is recommended not to use UltraTech Seal & Dry in direct sunlight, to avoid unnatural evaporation which may lead to cracks.
Average thickness of each coating should not be more than 0.6 0.8 mm. if required, number of coats may be increased to achieve higher thickness.

Coverage:

The coverage of the product depends upon the surface condition, its roughness and absorption. Under normal conditions, the coverage of UltraTech Seal & Dry is 10 - 12 square feet per kg for two coats.
